- I want this to turn out EXACTLY the way I want it, and if it doesn't, it's all YOUR fault (and FULL responsibility!)
-O.K, how do you want it then?
I don't know!

And There will Be Peace In The Valley.
-----
Some people like to climb mountains. They like the feeling of victory when they 're standing on the top. They are superior.
They have defeated the mountain.

We all have mountains to climb now and then.
And I'm not the kind who likes climbing them. It doesn't mean anything to me to reach the top. That's just the mechanics of climbing: If you keep going you're gonna end up on the top.
Pure logic.
And a lot of hard work.

What interests me it what comes after.
When you've climbed the mountain you get to slowly descent down the slope, on the other side.
Into the peacefull valley.

We are returning to the values of the 1950's, some say -and they might be right!
You know it's the 50's when:

-Hollywood starts churning out blockbuster films about the life of Jesus Christ.
-Any form of criticism of the current way of doing things will have you branded a Communist.
-Bridal magazines are stuffed into student's rucksacks instead of "The Students Political Review"
-Freedom and democracy is allegedly under attack by The Forces of Evil® and the best defence is to start a war somewhere in The Third World.
-Having Sunday dinner with your in-laws is the best fun you've had all month.
-You begin to firmly believe that stuffy conformism and racial bigotry is "just common sense"

Working order.

A Japanese modeller has added working suspension to his - already superdetailed - 1/35 scale plastic models of tanks and other AFV's.
Did I mention they also have remote control, rotating turrets and moving guns? Check out the QuickTime movies!

Clowns scare me...not people who act like clowns but the real thing- meaning people dressed up in the traditional clown outfit and with the classic clown make up.
You disagree? then check out Dan's New Gallery of Scary Clowns.

(and if that's not enough, read about "The Killer Clown" John Wayne Gacy)

Apocalypse then.
-----
As an obsessed reader (and collector) of the works of Robert Crumb I discovered one of Crumb´s own great inspirations Basil Wolverton.
Born 1909, Wolverton worked professionally from the mid 1930's and was a pioneer of both science fiction and horror comics. Despite of this his most famous creation was Powerhouse Pepper - a wacky humour comic featuring a bald headed strong man who could easily give Popeye the jitters.
In 1955 he decided to quit working with cartooning but later did a series of images of the Apocalypse as described in the Bible. They can be seen Here with coloration and complementary text by his son Monte Wolverton.

Veterans of the American 45'th Infantry Division show their own period photos from WW II.

Of special interest are the photos from 645'th Tank Destroyer Battalion.
Appearently they came across one of the secret workshops for producing Me 262 jet fighters the Germans had built out in the woods (to keep them from being bombed)
Once the planes were completed they were to be flown off the nearby Autobahn.

A few days ago shia muslim priest and leader of the recent rebellion in Iraq Muqtada al-Sadr, declared that "he would die fighting the USA"
Yesterday, after being surrounded by US troops, he announced that he is prepared for "unconditional negotiations with the USA".
If the Muslim world really wants freedom and independence it should start looking for leaders who are not fat ladies with beards and a big mouth.

The Enlighted One™®

Seems like most religions originate from pretty much the same experience:
Guy lives ordinary life for many years.
Guy get's fed up for some reason and wanders off into the desert, jungle or similar, "to be alone"...
After a long period of isolation, guy returns to civilization, now the bearer of fantastic news!
In his solitude he was approached by God! who spoke directly to him and revealed the secrets of a new religion!
Guy declares himself a prophet of the one-and-only true God and goes off to spread the news to all humanity.
Guy pays special attention to include in the religious texts that women are inferior, unclean and generally shoudn't be trusted.

This sort of thing happens in more primitive cultures too, amongst the Escimoes, Aboriginals etc. In these cultures the general opinion is that a guy who goes into the wilderness all alone gets pretty weird after a few weeks. If you should meet a guy like that it is best to stay away from him and pay no attention to his insane rantings as they are simply the product of too much loneliness.

And what about ABBA?

Nice weather today, if you went down to the shore you could see Sweden.
No right-wing government in Sweden.
Restrictions on how much alcohol you can use.
No commercials on TV.
A higher level of education in general.
Many neo-nazis though.
...
If they ban cars in the city-centers too, I'm moving in.

Well, still down with the cold or maybe it's the flu. At leastI don't have to go to work, but I'm too sick to do anything besides drinking tea and feeling miserable, so it's not an extra vacation. And still people call to ask me questions. What's the going rate on a hermit's residence in a remote dessert area?

Battlin' a cold this weekend. It means adding boredom, a headache and nausea to an already boring and meaningless existence (don't worry - It's just the cold talking, I'll be back to my old chirpy, cheerfull self in a few days!)
