I am the DJ, I am what I choose.
Seems to me that with todays abundance of information the important part is not gaining access to information, not finding it, but simply sorting the information.
With the internet you have over four bilion pages to browse through - theoretically, so where would we be without a "filtering system" like Google?
This also makes the DJ an important figure as he's the one who picks out the relevant tracks from the hundreds and thousands of records and CD's already created by artists. Few records produced have more than one or two tracks worth listening to, but who has the time to go through them all to find the "choice-cuts"? even if you narrow it down to a specific genre like "Austian prog-rock" or "Samoan drum and bass" you have to do a lot of listening.
Your DJ does that listening! and that's why he can serve you only the best end most interesting and save you the trouble of searching for it.
The DJ- so choosy!
