McSweeneys #13.
-----

Recommended by Stuart- man of T-Melt, I bought a copy of this highly interesting publication. This issue is all about cartooning and features brand new contributions by the top-level of America's (under-, middle- and off-ground) cartoonists.
Besides offering new stuff by the well-knowns like Robert Crumb, Kim Deitch, Los Bros Hernandez, Daniel Clowes (and the enigmatic Bil Woodring) McSweeneys also has a host of articles (it packs a walloping 257 pages...) on cartooning. It comes with a rather insulting price tag - $24! but this means you also get some of the most interesting book design I've seen in years: It's all done in an odd "1912-ish schoolbook" style and also includes a dustjacket that folds out to become a poster (with embossed gold-print...) and two mini-comics!
Highly recommended for any post-modernist.
