Flieger - Messerschmitt Me 262 "Schwalbe" The worlds first operational jet fighter was used from late 1944 and until the end of the war. In development since 1941 , the Me 262 was plagued by a number of problems, mainly with the engines, which both delayed it's production a made it difficult to keep in the air. The plane in the photo is being test flown in the US after the war and is a good example of the state of German arms production at the end of the war. Planes were delivered unpainted and often flown from autobahns since the airbases operating Me 262's were attacked by the Allied Airforce when the jets took off (at this point they were very vulnerable since they were difficult to fly at low speeds)

no babe? - You had yours yesterday!
