Panzer Pzkpfw II
Photo from the invasion of Norway, 1940.
Packing a 20 mm cannon plus a MG34 machinegun, the panzer II had a lot more to offer in terms of fighting power than the puny Panzer I and it was the most numerous German tank when Germany invaded Poland in 1939. By 1942 it had more or less disappeared from frontline service. It's main force was superior radio equipment and speed, giving it a fair share of the German Blitzkrieg victories of 39' to 41.
It later formed the basis for the successfull Luchs scout tank and 145 Panzer II's were still on strength with the Panzerwaffe in march 1945.
