Twenty-five year anniversary day here at DAMIJWH.

November 1982 saw the release of (in my opinion) one of the most powerful and influential Rock recordings of all time, Dead Kennedy's Plastic Surgery Disasters

And if you care to get hold of the original vinyl LP you can browse the full size booklet of graphic art by Jello Biafra and Winston Smith

(and remember kids, the Revolution is an ongoing process so start (un) tuning those instruments and prepare to hit the road!
- And what will you be doing then, Lennard?..
- I'll continue attacking the media brain washers and business power operators from the battle station of my desktop!)

Oh, NOW I get it...

Denmark is being run by the Danish People's Party...

As a supporter of (but not a part of) the current government, The Danish People's Party has the right to veto on a number of issues, but they also have the convenience of not holding any ministerial responsibilities. Meaning that they can always blame the other parties in the government if they have to accept something their voters won't like.

The Danish People's Party is also the party of choice of 1/3 of the Danish middle classes and since life in Denmark revolves entirely around the interests and tastes of the middle classes, a government can last practically forever if it gains the support of The Danish People's Party and makes sure that:

The kids are happy,
granny is happy,
the trains run on time (and are happy),
the beers are cold,
the pork chops are sizzling in the frying pan (in a happy way),
the dogs, cats, horses, chickens, pigs, frogs, fish and reindeer are happy,
there's a holiday coming up next week

With this secured, there's plenty of energy for the following:

Bashing selected minorities all middle class Danes can agree are irritating, like :

-Artists (pretentious bastards nobody understands)
-The left-wing extremists of Ungdomshuset (spoiled brats and proto-terrorists)
-Immigrants (Islamist wife-bashing niggers)
-Christiania (scrounging dope-addicts and criminals)
-The Danish Radio (pinko commie lackeys, but the TV series Matador was great, make more of that!)
-Poor people (losers)
-Sick people (genetically inferior and a burden to the rest of us)

And:

Give the Danish Army something to do now that neither Charles XII of Sweden, Lord Nelson, Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia is around to attack us. How about providing security services for the oil industries and Maersk shipping while kicking some nigger ass?..

And, finally:

-Don't mention the War, who cares anyway?..

-Always look good on television

Believe it or not but the Danish film industry produced a western comedy (there was even a sequel)

Read about (in Danish) the Danish illustrator Aage Lundvald, 1908-83, the creator of countless film posters and other illustrations.

When I was a kid he was simply "Mr.Film poster" and I think his leggy babes did something to my budging teenage sexuality...

Thanks to the Internet I now know this great man's name!

Jan Christensen, member of Albertslund City council for The Danish People's Party

what's your problem with these people, Lennard - You don't like them because they are typical Danes who are not part of the international cultural elite or what?..

No, it's fine when you have different opinions, but this party has brought a new verbally abusive meanness into Danish public life and politics plus an accompanying total lack of respect for specific people they just happen to not like.

And my problem is that this attitude is spreading to our society as a whole.

Who will benefit?..

Søren Rasmussen, member of Kolding city council for The Danish People's Party

Statistics (because I've always thought they were fun to read):

86,2 % of Danes live in a city (meaning a community with more than 200 people)

35 % of Danes lives in a city with more than 10,000 people.

21% of Danes live in the Greater Copenhagen area.

meaning that more than half the population of Denmark live in a city big enough to provide the feeling of being in a city...

And the point, Lennard?..

People who vote for the Danish people's party can't all be village idiots, some of them will have to be Urban Idiots.

Attended the CPH:DOX Festival Gala, not to mingle with the Danish film- and art-crowd but to watch the winner of the festival's "Sound and Vision Award", Grant Gee's Joy Division

A fan of JD myself from the moment I placed their debut album Unknown Pleasures on my turntable in the mid eighties.
In short they provided sound and words that described how I felt with uncanny accuracy - Isolation, abandonment, humiliation and the undying search for new hope and redemption in a lost and predominantly hostile world.

What surprised me the most is how the surviving members of the band come across as a bunch of very charming, fun loving Mancunians, almost difficult to associate with the darkness of their music and you actually believe them when they explain that Ian Curtis was good fun too...

He was however also a poet turned on to literature's heavy-weights like William S. Burroughs and Dostoevsky, and his increasing problems with epileptic fits (which put him on prescription drugs and curtailed his new found hedonistic freedom as a rock star) the threath of divorce from his wife and the pressures of an upcoming tour of America unfortunately drove him into his suicide. He had also expressed concern that now that the band were on the verge of gaining the success they deserved they were perhaps better off without the burden of an increasingly dysfunctional lead singer.

I'd call it a must-see if you're a fan of the band or just interested in art and artists, and the great thing about this documentary is the way that it approaches the band's history in a myth-deflating manner, displaying all the paradox and humour also present (like Peter Saville who designed the famous black cover for Unknown Pleasures without having ever heard the music), and then show their early appearances on Granada Television where they come across with huge artistic power.

Muslims are now represented in the Danish parliament...soon one of these babies will be ON EVERY STREET CORNER!

Well, the last word on the elections and then NO MORE..

Wrongeth I was: A Muslim DID make it into the Danish Parliament, Socialist People's Party candidate Özlem Sara Cikic

and, since The Danish People's Party gained one more seat, one of their most hardcore ideologists and Muslim baiters Mogens Camre will return from his duties in the EU to be a part of the Danish democratic process.

Election day is here, and since I've bee n an artist for most of my life I know how it's like to deal with egomaniac dictators so I'm a strong supporter of Democracy.

My vote went to a head-scarf wearing Muslim feminist from Palestine, partly because it secures my position with the politically correct cultural elite, but also due to the fact that both the left and right wing in Denmark have been repeatedly bashing this woman, the Left because of her decision to keep her religion though she is a candidate for a Socialist party, and the Right because she said the Iraqi people have a right to defend themselves against foreign invaders (that's us, remember?..)

Show 'em what you got, Asmaa!

(that is, if your party The Unity List can hang on to their few seats in parliament...)

Went and saw Inland Empire by David Lynch, and it is VERY long (close to three hours...) and NOT easily understood, but if you are part of "The Lynch mob" you'll get plenty of this great auteur's trademark obsessions:

-Strange rooms full of weird characters
-Truly scary stuff,

Election day coming up in a week and I simply don't know who to vote for?

My choices being:

Venstre - The ruling political party for the past five years, formerly it was the farmers and young liberalists party but today you could call them "The Center Populists" but if you like making and spending money and are completely fed up with the saggy bottomed attitude of the Danish left wing, this might be the party for you...

as opposed to:

The Social Democrats - This party ruled Denmark for most of the industrial age but since that age has ended it should be placed in a museum, mainly because most of their core-voters now vote for:

The Danish People's Party - Denmark's own proto-nazis! basically they are displeased with everything because most of them are fat, ugly, untalented and stupid (except the nationalistic zealots running the party) - and what better way to handle that than to blame everything on virtually defenseless people like ethnic minorities and refugees?

unlike:

The New Alliance - Headed by Palestinian immigrant Naser Khader this party has been criticized for representing the creative elite, people who are slim, good-looking, talented, clever - and in the media! they are also very interested in being the present governments new partners instead of those idiotic louts in the Danish People's Party...and your politics: - Never mind that, we're cool anyway!

Socialist People's Party - Yes the "Aging hippies with money and school-teacher's party" has a growing following, much of it owed to the "empathic macho" appeal of chairman Villy Søvndal, if you want people who can spend government funds without bothering where to get them, Villy's your man!

Apart from that we have the Successful artist's and University Professor's Party: The Radical Left, but they are to boring to make fun at, plus a few other minorities like The Conservative Party, The Christian Democrats and The Unity List - Every modern western democracy has to have a Conservative party for the really rich, and some Christian Democrats for people living in the provinces.

The Unity List collects left-wing extremists who pass their entire political career without having any real influence, which means they don't have to be responsible for anything... let's call it "The Utopian Sociology Students Party"

Recently a number of its founding members actually left the party because of the head-scarf wearing female Muslim candidate Asmaa Abdol-Hamid who defines herself as a Muslim Feminist, refuses to shake hands with men, and have made some controversial remarks about Sharia law and homosexuals - way too much for the hardcore Marxists who founded the party and secured it a marginal position in Danish politics for years.

And most of these parties have of course voted in favour of the Danish collaboration in The War for Secure Pipe Lines Running Westwards

Maybe I should just stay at home...
