No more Tacheles... - The legendary self-appointed center for art and culture in Berlin will reach the end of a ten-year agreement with the owners of the building on December 31, 2008.

The agreement (which included the users of Tacheles paying a rent of one mark per month) was part of a ambitious plan for the renewal of the then obscure and largely unused Mitte district of post-wall Berlin.

The plans eventually came to nothing but private enterprise has filled the area with trendy cafes, galleries, restaurants and boutiques and Tacheles has evolved from being the den of a typical radical left wing clientele to become a successful cafe and eatery, and a regular stop for both art students, bachelor bashes and seasoned tourists looking for that "alternative" flavor.

Hopefully something will save the old place!

Note the penetration made through the track, the weakest part on a Panzer.
(unfortunately) Also my people
(regrettably) Also my war
