We're not a band - we're...

It suddenly occurred to me that today we're judged not so much by our actions or ideas, but by our choices.

Freedom of choice.

but what is it?..

The Auschwitz complex from the air

Yesterday was International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is also the date of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, January 27, 1945, and with my historical interests I guess I should have mentioned that here on the blog.

Seems like I'm growing indifferent to human suffering - could it be the weather?..

MacWorld publishes a list of The six worst Apple products of all time

Topping the list is the Mac II vx computer - the first Mac I owned...

Hey - I loved that machine!!! and it was the first mac to ship with the then revolutionary technology (1992) of the CD-ROM drive

I did a lot of Photoshop digital painting and drawing on it, but unfortunately all my "early work" was lost when a SyQuest disc crashed.

- what's a "SyQuest disc" granddad?...

We'll save that for later, kids... go back to your Call of Duty, GAZA 2009 expansion pack

Back in 2004, the former head of the Danish Army special forces (Jægerkorpset), Poul Dahl, publicly stated that:

"...when faced with potential terrorists, we may have to resort to questioning methods or techniques that fall into the category of what we would normally call torture..."

Poul Dahl is now a Danish candidate for the EU parliament and you can catch his personal homepage here

Hmm, I'd like some of that too..

Ok, ok...I got misty-eyed during the speech...

Well, thumbs up for America for letting change happen, and the hope that now that the most powerful nation on Earth has a coloured president who addresses the need for restoring ethics, and calls for peace and mutual respect between cultures and religions, maybe my own country could wake up and decide if we really want to be domineered by petty racism and narrow minded welfare fascism.

And hey, Jyllandsposten: Obama's dad was from Africa...if he screws up you can print a caricature of him in a banana skirt...just for fun and the freedom of speech, right?..

The two Jameses on stage

As a follow up on the death of former The Stooges guitarist, Ron Asheton, here's a 2006 interview with his successor, James Williamson, who wielded the "axe" when the band reformed in 1973 to become Iggy and The Stooges (Ron Asheton was still with the band but "demoted" to play the bass)

For those interested in what it is Williamson has been doing since leaving music and turning to "...the electronics business..." go to this page and scroll to the bottom where you will find his 2008 incarnation.

And who's the other "mystery guy" of The Stooges?...why, that would have to be the original bass player Dave Alexander

Danish readers can enjoy "Godtnok", a peculiar Danish cartoon character from the seventies, created by the Danish national board for safety in the workplace. Morten Arnfred directed and renowned danish comedian Jørgen Ryg did the voice-over.

"Godtnok" was the guy who never took safety at work seriously and naturally ended up getting hurt.

Complete destruction like this would usually be the result of an internal explosion caused by the panzer's own ammunition. The white cross national marking suggests this panzer was destroyed during the battle of Poland, 1939.

You think I'm a joke? - I'm the Hoochie Koochie man

I'm glad I no longer have views on Danish politics, because then I would have to think about that some Danish citizens - born and raised here, might have relatives being killed in Gaza, and in some way that should perhaps be part of our view of what's happening down there.

But, Lennard, some JEWISH Danish citizens might have relatives down there - you thought about that, HUH?!?!?!

no...you're right... I haven't thought about this carefully enough to form an opinion...I better leave matters of state and government to the politicians, civil servants and the army and police...and opinions should come from the media professionals, because they alone have the broad spectre of information available to them which, combined with their analytical skills and experience and filtered through the internationally accepted standards for press- and publication ethics, creates a fair and objective evaluation of news and events and places them in their proper context for public digest and information.

R.I.P Ron Asheton, 1948-2009

The renowned guitarist from the original The Stooges line up was found dead from heart failure yesterday.

A twangmaster supreme and the author of the classic Rock song Wanna be your dog, I had the pleasure of seeing him play with a reformed Stooges back in ye year 2004.

The fact that in his early days, Ron Asheton used the controversial impact of Nazi regalia as part of his stage outfit did not go unnoticed by this fan.

Note the tactical sign of a fully motorized artillery unit painted on the hull side, most likely making this Hauptmann (captain) a target spotter. Another explanation could be that he is a Panzer company commander, since unit commanders often chose to use half tracks, or even cars, instead of panzers during battles. They moved faster around the battlefield and didn't draw as much fire from the enemy.
